Haunted Sea Songs of Bahia:Volume 2

The second volume of Preston Swirnoff's solo project 'Haunted Sea Songs of Bahia', inspired by the folk music of the legendary Brazilian composer Dorival Caymmi. The recordings are raw, stripped down performances, with Swirnoff on classical guitar, singing in Portuguese; mostly recorded live with no multi-tracking or overdubs. Recommended for those who like dreamy, dark, otherworldly songs about the sea.
Side A: A Lenda do Abaeté / The Legend of Abaeté (Dorival Caymmi)
Caymmi's ballad about a haunted lagoon in Bahia, with its dark waters surrounded by white sand under a glowing moon- and a warning about the spirits that lurk underneath.

Side B: Rio de Sangue / River of Blood (for Victor Jara)
An instrumental original dedicated to the memory of the Chilean folk music hero and martyr Victor Jara, who was brutally murdered by Pinochet's henchmen in Estadio Chile Sept 1973.

Limited lathe-cut 7" vinyl. These are cut on high quality discs that do not degrade on successive plays. Edition of 100.
Each record comes in a clear sleeve and includes full color labels, handprinted numbered insert with credits, and a dried flower.
